"What will you do with Jesus?" is life’s weightiest
question because it impacts all areas of life, both
now and forever. Your response is the single most
important decision you’ll ever make. Making Jesus
the Lord of your life and following His teachings
provides courage, strength, and hope to face any
situation you encounter because His presence (Holy
Spirit) is always with you.
If
it’s so great, why doesn’t everyone become a
Christian?
The Christian Life involves choosing to change. A
change from "being your own person" to yielding to
the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Human nature is bent
toward self-gratification. This bent is called sin
and it separates us from God. But it need not always
be that way; "For God so loved the world that He
gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life. " (John
3:16)
The belief is a commitment of life through faith and
involves acknowledging that…
…we are sinners, "For all have sinned and come short
of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
... we cannot save ourselves, "For it is by grace
you have been saved, through faith - and this not
from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by
works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
…our hope is in the resurrected Christ, "Jesus said,
I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes
unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6)
…if we turn from our sinful way (Repent) then God
will forgive us! "If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and just and will forgive our sins and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
You can do that right now. "For every one who calls
upon the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans
10:13)
You may pray the following prayer or use your own
words:
Dear Lord, I know I have sinned. I now repent of my
sins and ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I
want you to be the Lord of my life and save me. Take
control of my life and help me live for you. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you made this commitment, we encourage you to:
1)
Make your profession of faith in Jesus public by
following Him in Believer's Baptism by immersion.
Jesus set the example for us through His own
baptism. (Matthew 3:13-17)
Jesus commanded us to be baptized. (Matthew 28:19)
-
Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus.
-
Likewise, in your life it symbolizes the death
and burial of your old way of life, and your
resurrection to a new way of life.
-
Baptism is the fact act of obedience for a new
Christian.
2)
Get involved with other Christians in a local
church.
3)
Take time each day to feed your faith by:
-
Reading the Bible, God's Holy Word (A good place
to start is the book of John in the New
Testament.)
-
Praying, talking with God.
We would like to hear from you. In fact, if you need
a Bible, we’ll send you one. And if you live in our
city, we’ll accept you into our church.
May
the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
And
the love of God and the fellowship
Of
the Holy Spirit be with you.
